Drawing Life:
Visualizing ASL
By blending American Sign Language handshapes with visual storytelling, I explore the nuances of the Deaf experience. This collection brings those stories to life through tangible products like stickers, stationery, & clothing.

ASL “TWEET”

The eyes have exclamation points as eyelashes to show that Deaf people are very observant and curious about the world. I used the ASL handshape for 'tweet' because it looks like a bird's beak, connecting the idea of sign language with social media.
ASL “COME-OUT”

The yellow road leads people toward living openly and finding their true path. The 'opening' hand shape represents revealing your identity, including LGBTQ+ pride and other differences. I colored the hands gray to represent all skin tones equally, ensuring that everyone is included.

ASL “FOREVER”
The old tree represents the long history and resilience of the Deaf community as they continue to fight for their rights. The eye symbolizes visibility, showing the world that Deaf people are capable and successful. Finally, the sunny road leads to Gallaudet University, representing the path to education and a bright future.
ASL “PAH”
In ASL, the expression 'PAH' means 'finally' or 'success' after working hard. The stars represent the joy of reaching your goals or finishing a difficult task. This design captures the feeling of relief and happiness when you finally succeed.
